The Federation of Sports Association for the Disabled (FSAD) began promoting sport for people with disabilities in January 1990. As a unique body in Great Britain FSAD led the way in increasing participation, raising standards of sporting performance, training volunteers and coaches to work with disabled sports people and ensuring that people had good access to sports facilities.
FSAD developed quickly in the 90's and is now well know both in Wales and beyong as the Federation of Disability Sport Wales (FDSW) which is shorted for marketing purposes to Disability Sport Wales (DSW). During the modernisation of FDSW in 2006 a re-brand was introduced which focused more on marketing our services to ensure we had a clearer and more recognisable image.
As our corporate structure has developed we now run four key programmes areas, each area working towards specific objectives which link into the overall objectives of Disability Sport Wales:- to provide a pathway for athletes, coaches, volunteers, disabled people and their support staff.
